Lohan invited to Depp's private island

Johnny Depp has offered Lindsay Lohan a holiday on his private island to help her escape the media spotlight.

The actor and girlfriend Vanessa Paradis regularly escape to their Caribbean retreat, which they call their "F**k Off Island".

Depp reportedly issued the invitation after meeting Lohan backstage at Sunday's MTV Awards in LA.

The Boston Globe quotes a source as saying: "Johnny realises the pressures of fame and can see Lindsay could do with a break."

Lohan has sparked speculation in recent weeks over her rumoured lesbian relationship with Samantha Ronson. She has also been caught up in controversy surrounding her mum and sister's reality TV show Living Lohan.
