Appearing with his band the Jonas Brothers on The Nokia Green Room, the US singer said he often misunderstands English accents.
When asked by Tara Palmer-Tomkinson whether he preferred English or American girls, Jonas responded: "The accents are great here. I was walking down the street and I saw a pretty girl, so I thought I'd say 'hey'.
"They said something so cool, it was like 'hiyo' or 'heya' or something. That's like a karate noise, I thought I was going to be hit in the face."
Fellow band member Kevin confessed that having a lot of female attention isn't always a good thing, saying: "A girl chain-linked herself to a pole outside our house the other day. That was a new one!"
The Nokia Green Room airs Sunday at 1.10pm on Channel 4.
