Consultant surgeon David Hewin said he had received a considerable increase in public interest in the slimming technique since the TV host spoke out about her weight loss last week.
"I have received more than 20 inquiries - a 400% increase - from people in Gloucestershire asking for more information about gastric band operations," he told the Gloucestershire Echo.
"Clearly Fern's successful weight loss has raised awareness of this type of surgery and the life saving and life-changing results that can be achieved."
