Actor Michael Madsen was taken to hospital after a confrontation at a London hotel over the weekend.
The Reservoir Dogs star was involved in a row with a female companion at the Dorchester and allegedly "lost the plot".
Hotel staff contacted police, who brought the actor under control, reports The Sun.
"On Sunday afternoon there was a massive disturbance in his room," said a source. "A guest complained that all hell was breaking lose.
"There was a lot of screaming and shouting and staff called the police. He had a furious row with his woman companion and it was feared they might hurt each other.
"An ambulance was called because of concerns for his mental health. Madsen looked wild-eyed and had lost the plot. He was not violent, but there were serious concerns about his behaviour."
Madsen was released from hospital after being treated for minor injuries.
The Hollywood star was in the UK finishing filming for his latest movie The Big I Am.
