Bowman gives birth to baby boy

Edith Bowman has given birth to a baby boy.

The Radio 1 DJ and her partner, Editors frontman Tom Smith, welcomed their son, Rudy Brae Bowman Smith, at London's Portland Hospital.

Earlier in the year, Bowman admitted that a heart condition could put her life at risk during labour. Her child was born through a Caesarean section.

Radio 1 controller Andy Parfitt said: "Everyone at Radio 1 sends their love and best wishes to Edith and Tom."

Bowman began presenting for Radio 1 in 2003. She has also hosted Top Of The Pops, the BBC's Glastonbury coverage and appeared on Fame Academy.
