Paul Danan in beauty contest row

Paul Danan has been involved in a row with organisers of the MissStudentUK beauty contest.

The Celebrity Love Island star was asked to leave Derby County's Pride Park Stadium after he was accused of being rude to contestants.

Police were called to the event after Danan allegedly refused to leave.

Organiser Graham Townend told the Derby Evening Telegraph: "Halfway through the night I was alerted to the fact that [Danan] was drunk.

"I asked him if he was all right and could continue to be with us and do the judging as required and he said yes, he was.

"But unfortunately he started to be rude to contestants. We have had emails from contestants since saying how he was rude to them."

A police spokesperson said: "I can confirm that we were called after [Danan] was asked to leave but we didn't take any action because he had not committed any offences."

Danan has denied that he upset any competitors, commenting: "I was there to do a job and they did not want to pay me because I was not the Celebrity Love Island person they wanted me to be.

"I am not that person any more. It is all completely untrue."
