Amy Winehouse was due to attend a meeting about a plot to clear her husband of assault charges, a court has been told.

The singer and Blake Fielder-Civil allegedly planned to meet pub landlord James King, who Fielder-Civil had previously assaulted.

Fielder-Civil, 26, from Camden, and Michael Brown, 25, from Surrey, have both pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

However, King, 36, of Derbyshire, denies conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. He is standing trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

King is accused of being part of a plan that would have seen him paid £200,000 in return for not testifying against Fielder-Civil and Brown.

Daily Mirror journalist Stephen Moyes told the jury today that the trio and Winehouse were due to meet to discuss the plot last October. He claimed that the newspaper had been informed of the plot by two third parties and was planning to record the meeting.

Moyes said he waited several hours before being told the meeting was off. "At that stage we were told that Amy and Blake were going to Munich for an MTV awards show," he told the court.

The trial continues.
