Alexandra Burke to visit Haiti next week

X Factor winner Alexandra Burke has announced that she is to visit earthquake-stricken Haiti next week.

The 21-year-old singer, who first proposed the idea last month, will fly out to the troubled country on Monday.

Burke told The Sun that she is making the visit because she wants to 'see things for herself' and raise further awareness after taking part in Simon Cowell's Haiti charity single.

She also admitted that she is feeling nervous over the trip, saying: "I don't think anyone can prepare for what it'll be like but I will try to be strong."

The star's fellow X Factor champion Joe McElderry has also expressed interest in visiting Haiti.
