Contostavlos began filming alongside Louis Walsh, Gary Barlow and Kelly Rowland in Birmingham earlier this week. Her appointment to the panel came after Cole and Dannii Minogue both quit their respective positions on the panel.
Cole - who allegedly declined offers to return to the ITV1 competition following her reported axing from the American version - sent the flowers to the 22-year-old's hotel, according to The Mirror.
"The flowers arrived at the hotel the morning of the first auditions, with a message saying, 'Good luck with your first X Factor experience, Love Cheryl xx'," a source told the paper. "Tulisa thought it was very sweet."
Contostavlos recently said that she is "very excited" about being a judge and promised fans that she will bring a "raw, in-your-face, real element" to the role.
Gary Barlow has admitted that he is "disappointed" that Cole has quit the show, but is confident that Contostavlos and Rowland are "going to be great" as judges.
