Malik was Edwards's choice for the letter 'z', but his name was initially spelt "Zayne", prompting an outpouring of anger from One Direction's devoted followers.
After realising the mistake, Edwards wrote: "Just to clarify. The alphabet was typed up wrong after we wrote it on paper. I am aware of how to spell my own boyfriends name :) Perrie <3."
When Malik's fans continued to hassle her, the young star added: "Just to make it clear one more time, I know how to spell my own boyfriends name, no need for the hate <3."

The tweet has now been edited so that Malik's first name is spelt correctly.
Edwards opened up about her relationship with the 'What Makes You Beautiful' singer for the first time last month, declaring that she is "really, really happy".
The couple dated briefly while Little Mix were competing on The X Factor last year.
Edwards allegedly dumped Malik in order to concentrate on her career, but the pair reunited in April.
