The former Strictly Come Dancing judge has already been working with the London venue on the online Global Dance Contest.
She has now been offered a position on the board of directors, BBC News reports. Her duties will include overseeing the theatre's governance and acting as an ambassador for the playhouse.
Phillips said that she is "delighted" about her new role, adding: "The quality of work programmed by the theatre is exceptional, and the range of work presented truly reflects the spectrum of what dance has to offer.
"I'm thrilled to be joining the team at Sadler's Wells to support their aims at this incredibly exciting time for dance."
More than 1,300 viewers complained earlier this year when Phillips was axed from her position on Strictly Come Dancing.
