Strictly Come Dancing star Ali Bastian has spoken of the health benefits of learning to dance.

The former Hollyoaks actress finished third in the last series of the show, and after entering into a relationship with professional partner Brian Fortuna, decided to keep practicing her fancy footwork.

"It really does change your figure and posture," she told Closer. "I feel stronger now than I ever felt in my legs and in the middle. It’s amazing for core stability.

"When I went to see my physio after Strictly, he couldn’t believe how much my posture, strength and flexibility had improved."

Bastian's Strictly success also secured her a role in upcoming West End dance show Burn The Floor, in which she is the only professional dancer.

"I am so honoured to have been asked to be part of this and to share a stage with such amazing dancers," she said.
