The DJ, whose real name is Norman Cook, said that he wanted to impress his TV star wife Zoe Ball because she did so well as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing in 2005.
Fatboy Slim told The Sun: "I got the bug for Strictly when Zoe was on it. I got drawn into it and had lessons but my approach is somewhat more freestyle."
He is scheduled to play two huge concerts in Brighton next June and said that he wants to book "superstar DJs" such as David Guetta and Swedish House Mafia, adding: "When I see them they say, 'I grew up listening to you'."
The musician recently revealed that he was scared to DJ for the first time after entering rehab for an alcohol addiction because he thought that he wouldn't be able to dance while sober.
Fatboy Slim said: "I was scared that DJing sober would be a nightmare. I was s**tting myself that I wouldn't be able to do it or be as good. It was two or three gigs before I could dance. My hips wouldn't do it."
