She said of hitting the dancefloor for the Christmas special: "I'm anxious, but in terms or nerves, I now judge everything by the first heat of Let's Dance For Sport Relief where I did Beyoncé's 'Single Ladies'.
"I don't think I've ever been that frightened in my life. So even though I've never done ballroom before and I don't really know what I'm doing, somehow because I'm in Anton's [Du Beke] arms, I actually feel like I'm slightly cheating!
"It's not easy. I'm not used to be dignified and smooth. I've only been dancing for about three days. I did a bit of tap as a kid but I wasn't very good.
"I was routinely asked to leave my ballet classes because I was always distracting the teacher from all the ones who were good at it. I don't really have the limbs for the ballet either."
On whether she will be getting fit and keep on dancing in 2013, Brand said: "Once you reach a certain age, you sort of abandon that idea of being healthy for the New Year.
"I just take healthy where I find it. I did the Moonwalk earlier this year, which was a marathon for breast cancer. What I seem to be doing is two pockets of quite intense activity, with almost nothing in between."
About her routine, she added: "Anton and I discussed that but because it's a Viennese waltz, it's a dignified dance - we thought about breaking out into a bit of slapstick but it just wouldn't work.
"So we thought we'd do it straight but with a little twinkle."
The Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special will be shown at 6.15pm on BBC1 on Christmas Day.
