The 13-year-old singer signed a £2.3 million record deal with Universal following her appearance on the ITV1 competition last year.
"I haven't spent a penny of it yet. I haven't bought any shoes or a bag or anything," Smith told Take 5 magazine. "I don't really think about the money side of things. I just think about singing."
The star also insisted that she is still living a normal life, explaining: "I still do my schoolwork. My friends don't treat me any differently and I'm determined to keep my feet on the ground. My parents wouldn't let me get a big head, anyway."
Smith released her debut album Faryl last week.
