The Scottish singer was reportedly greeted by thousands of fans and chants of "We love Susan" as she entered the terminal building at LAX airport.
According to The Mirror, the 48-year-old was stunned by the reception and said: "Oh my word, is this really for me?
"I'm really nervous and quite overwhelmed by the reaction. It's like nothing I've ever come across. It's so flattering and I am really excited about being here. Thank you so much."
More than 50 police officers were reportedly at the airport to cope with the crowds, while Boyle is alleged to have been assigned six bodyguards for the duration of her stay in the US.
"She had no idea the reaction would be quite so amazing. She kept joking, 'It's like the Beatles'," an insider claimed.
The Britain's Got Talent runner-up will perform her new single, a cover of the Rolling Stones' 'Wild Horses', on the America's Got Talent finale on Wednesday night.
