Former Britain's Got Talent finalist Shaun Smith has broken his leg in a rugby accident.

The singer, who found fame with his cover of 'Ain't No Sunshine', has had a metal plate put in his leg after being injured in a tackle.

Writing on his official blog, Smith said: "Having already scored one try, I was about to go over the line for my second, until I was tackled and ended up breaking my leg!

"Luckily the break isn't too serious, but I now have a metal plate in my leg to help heal the bone. All being well, I should be back on the field before too long!"

Smith finished in 9th place on last year's Got Talent final, which was won by Ashley Banjo's dance troupe Diversity.

The rugby fan has a co-headline show scheduled at Lichfield's Garrick Theatre for July 1, where he will be joined by fellow reality TV star Julian Smith.
