Emmerdale star Sammy Winward has admitted that she has a passion for history books and classic novels.
The 23-year-old actress, who plays Katie Sugden on the ITV1 soap, revealed that books by Evelyn Waugh and Emily Brontė have been keeping her entertained in recent months.
Speaking to We Love Telly! magazine, she explained: "I love history books and I have also been reading the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer, which is not normally my thing at all.
"And I've been reading Brideshead Revisited, which was quite heavy, and I've nearly finished Wuthering Heights. I like classics!"
Winward added that she recently returned to the set of Emmerdale following a series of summer holidays.
She confirmed: "I went to Romania. It's a bizarre country, but amazing. Then I visited Ibiza with a friend, which was really good fun. And I went camping with my family. We had the best time, although putting up the tent was a nightmare."
Winward's character is expected to return to the forefront of Emmerdale over the next few months, with a new romance plot on the cards for Katie.
