Over the weekend, 23-year-old Winward - who plays Katie Sugden in the ITV soap - was spotted kissing an unknown man at Leeds Festival after splitting with her boyfriend of two years, Jonas Armstrong.
Her new partner, who was wearing a woolly hat and sunglasses, has since been identified as 26-year-old Sutton, who plays her on-screen love interest Ryan Lamb.
Sutton also recently split from his 26-year-old long-term girlfriend, who works for Liverpool Football Club's digital TV channel LFCTV.
A show source said: "Sammy and James are both newly single and since they started working together, their friendship has gone from strength to strength."
An ITV spokesperson confirmed Winward's split from Armstrong, saying: "Sammy and Jonas are no longer dating, but remain friends."
Winward and Sutton were unavailable for comment.
