The actress, who plays Mercedes McQueen in the Channel 4 soap, is said to have shed pounds since splitting with Liverpool footballer Jermaine Pennant earlier this year.
"Jen lost her confidence with Jermaine, and since the split she has lost quite a lot of weight," a friend told the Daily Star Sunday.
The source added that Metcalfe is hoping to secure a spot in the next series of Dancing On Ice, saying: "‘When ITV approached her, she jumped at it. It's something she’s always fancied doing."
