The 25-year-old actress, who plays Mercedes McQueen on the Channel 4 soap, is currently single - but has insisted that she will not welcome "cheesy" pick-up lines.
"The simple answer is don't," Metcalfe is quoted by the News Of The World as saying. "If I like someone, I'll go up to them - but don't ever interrupt me on the dancefloor!"
Metcalfe revealed that she adopted her cautious attitude towards men after suffering through "boring" dates in the past.
"I met a guy when I was drunk and agreed to meet him later in the week. It was a big mistake," she explained. "He was boring and droned on and on. I told him that it was my mum's birthday and I had to be home for her party and left."
Meanwhile, Metcalfe's co-star Gemma Merna (Carmel McQueen), who is engaged to her long-term partner, has said that she can understand the actress's frustration with men.
She complained: "[Most men] sit down and drink beer all day while watching sport on TV and then sleep for hours on end. That's all men seem to want to do from what I've seen."
