Jake Albison, 20, from Oldham, pleaded guilty to GBH at Minshull Street Crown Court and was given a 36-week suspended jail sentence and 300 hours unpaid work.
Bowes and her lover Martin Shepherdson were taunted by Albison, who shouted "Hollyoaks! Hollyoaks!" when he recognised the soap star. When Shepherdson confronted him about the jibes, Albison responded by hitting him in the face.
Shepherdson's jaw was fractured in three places and he was taken to hospital in Oldham.
"This was a serious assault on a young man whose girlfriend you had been taunting because you recognised her from a TV programme," said Judge Yvonne Coppel. "You pushed and hit him in an unprovoked attack."
Bowes, 20, plays Michaela McQueen in the Channel 4 soap.
