Jennifer Metcalfe: 'I love being single'

Hollyoaks actress Jennifer Metcalfe has admitted that she loves being single.

The soap star, who plays Mercedes McQueen on the Channel 4 show, said that she doesn't like to be tied down or accountable to any one person.

"I love being on my own. I don't like the idea of having to explain or account for yourself to anyone," she told Loaded. "I'm just not ready. I'm not saying I won't ever settle down, but now isn't the right time."

The 26-year-old has previously been romantically linked to Kanye West, Big Brother 8 contestant Ziggy Lichman and footballer Jermaine Pennant.

Metcalfe also revealed that she has recently been enjoying day trips to Marbella with friends.

"A mate and I were sitting in the pub on Friday night and thought it'd be great idea to go there for one day only. We booked the flights and went the next morning," she said.

"We had a few duty free drinks during the daytime, then went to the bars at night. I've got friends over there so it isn't as bad as it sounds."
