'Oaks actress dismisses marriage talk

Hollyoaks star Jennifer Metcalfe has laughed off rumours that she proposed to her boyfriend Will Rogers.

In October, it was claimed that the 26-year-old was ready to marry her DJ partner after just two months together, though her soap bosses went on to insist that there was "absolutely no truth" in the claims.

Metcalfe, who plays Mercedes Fisher in the Chester-based drama, has now announced that she would rather wait for her partner to pop the question, than ask it herself.

Speaking to the Daily Star Sunday about the reports, the actress commented: "The day I get married I'd want my boyfriend to propose. I'd never ask a man to marry me, especially after a few months. I'm not a needy person and I don't need a ring for me to know it's serious."

She added: "Things are going really well between us and we're having a lot of fun together. But we're not quite at the marriage stage."

Metcalfe has previously dated footballer Jermaine Pennant.
