Merna reveals weird fanmail requests

Hollyoaks star Gemma Merna has said that she often gets weird requests from male fans.

The actress, who plays Carmel McQueen in the Channel 4 soap, claimed she is often sent lewd messages in the post.

"I had a letter from a bloke asking if I’d send him a picture of myself naked riding a rocking horse!" said the soap star. "Needless to say, that went straight in the bin."

Merna also revealed that she was hopeful that her soap character would end up marrying her on-off lover Calvin Valentine (Ricky Whittle) in the near future.

She said: "I would love to see Carmel get married. She’s had a pretty unsettled upbringing, what with all the other McQueen sisters.

"They are all pretty wild, but she likes the quiet things in life. Carmel’s a dreamer and has always wanted more for herself than her mum and sisters seem to have.

"I think her ideal life is to have a great husband and a lovely little home for them both."
