Former X Factor Australia contestant Cleo Howman has described her performance on Monday night's live show as a "nightmare".

The Gold Coast reality show contestant, who sung Christina Perri's 'Jar of Hearts' in the first of two live performances, said that she could not believe it when she missed her cue and became the first of the top twelve contestants to be voted out of the show.

Howman told the Herald Sun: "I replay it a million times over in my head because no-one ever wants to experience standing on stage, in front of the nation, on live television and miss a cue. It was just a nightmare."

She said that she would love to relocate to Sydney, record some original tracks and become a successful television presenter.

In Tuesday night's elimination episode, judge Natalie Bassingthwaighte voted to keep Howman in the competition, but Mel B, Guy Sebastian and Ronan Keating all chose to save rival Jacqui Newland because of her "hunger" for success.

Since Howman left the show, rumours of a romance have surfaced between teenage contestants Reece Mastin and Christina Parie. An X Factor insider claimed: "Hormones are flying."
