Cheryl friends 'warn against Ashley reunion'

Cheryl Cole's friends have apparently begged the Girls Aloud star not to rekindle her romance with ex-husband Ashley.

According to recent reports, the former couple, who finalised their divorce in September, held a secret meeting with each other last month.

The Daily Star claims that those closest to Cheryl have warned her not to get back together with the Chelsea footballer, despite suggestions that she is seriously considering a reunion.

"This will kill any dreams Cheryl has of making it in the US," one friend said. "We have all begged her not to go back there."

Another added: "It's a disaster waiting to happen. We all know Ashley can't, or won't, change."

Cheryl is said to be aware of the fact that any potential reunion could harm her chances of landing a coveted role on the judging panel of the American X Factor.

"Cheryl is hellbent on getting the gig on the US version of The X Factor and knows the smallest wrong move could dash her hopes," an insider said. "But something in her heart tells her the pair could give it one more go."

Reports over the weekend that the ex-couple also met up after last week's National Television Awards were denied by Cheryl's spokesperson, who stated: "Cheryl did not meet Ashley last week. She did not speak to him either."

Ashley began dating Playboy model Kayla Collins at the end of last year, but the pair are believed to have split following a row earlier this month.
