'X Factor' USA Steve Jones: 'Nicole Scherzinger's fair game after axe'

The X Factor USA host Steve Jones has claimed that he will pursue a romantic relationship with Nicole Scherzinger if he is axed from the show.
It was alleged this week that the Welsh presenter's departure from the Fox contest is already a "done deal" and Simon Cowell has since lined up Cat Deeley as his replacement. However, his spokesperson claimed that there had been "absolutely no conversations" about his exit.
Referencing both the apparent uncertainty surrounding his job and previous reports linking him to the show's judge Scherzinger, Jones told The Sun that the Pussycat Doll would be "fair game" in his eyes if they are no longer working together.
"If I ever leave X Factor, Scherzinger's phone will be smoking hot from me ringing it constantly," he said. "If we are not colleagues then she's fair game."
Jones last month dismissed "ridiculous" rumours that he and Scherzinger are dating, insiting that the pair have a "brother and sister" relationship.
Scherzinger, who split from boyfriend of four years Lewis Hamilton in October, is also rumoured to be leaving The X Factor following her part in the controversial elimination of Rachel Crow.
