Speaking on a conference call, the singer, who filed for divorce from husband Jordan Bratman in October 2010, admitted that she struggles with having her personal and professional "setbacks" being constantly reported in the press because of her celebrity status.
"In light of the past year, there have been obvious setbacks," she explained. "I've gone through a really hard divorce, and anyone who has gone through a divorce will speak about how hard the journey is from start to finish.
"It's a life-uprooting time and there have been hiccups along the way that unfortunately the whole world gets to witness and judge."
She went on to say that she feels lucky to be able to share her experience with her fans, who offer understanding and support despite her downfalls.
"I can laugh about my own hiccups and my own experiences in life because I'm getting through it," she added. "But I get to share these experiences with these people and I get to say not every performance day is going to be a great day."
Aguilera previously said that she tries not to let negative press get her down.
She can be seen as a celebrity mentor in the new singing competition The Voice, which premieres April 26 on NBC.
