BB US host Chen 'welcomes baby boy'

Big Brother US host Julie Chen has given birth to a baby boy in Los Angeles.

The 39-year-old and husband Les Moonves, who is the president of CBS, welcomed Charlie at 9:40am (PST) on Thursday, CBS reports.

Charlie is the first child for Chen and Moonves, who have been married since 2004, while the network CEO has three grown children from a previous marriage.

Chen had announced the pregnancy on the April 21 episode of CBS's The Early Show, which she also co-anchors. She informed her colleagues and the audience that her due date was October 4, while in July she told Craig Ferguson on his late-night chatshow that she was due to have a son.

Her co-anchors threw her an on-air baby shower on September 18 before she left on maternity leave.

"Mother and child are doing well," a network rep said.

Earlier this month, Chen denied claims that the US version of Big Brother is "rigged."
