'Home and Away' star had secret wedding

Home and Away star Ray Meagher has revealed that he is now married to his long-term partner Gilly.

The couple tied the knot at a private ceremony a few months ago, but chose not to make a public announcement about their news at the time.

Speaking to New Idea, Meagher commented: "When you've both been there before, you don't want fuss and carry-on and all that. We just went away and did it, and then gradually told a few people who mattered to us. We're both very happy about it."

Meagher, who plays Summer Bay's Alf Stewart, won the prestigious Gold Logie prize at a star-studded ceremony in Melbourne on Sunday. Gilly, who has been in a relationship with the actor for six years, did not accompany him for the occasion.

He explained: "She decided to let me go and do all that by myself. She didn't want to have me worrying about her."

Meagher recently announced that he is to take a six-month break from Home and Away to star in London's West End.
