Goody taken out of intensive care

Jade Goody has been taken out of intensive care following the removal of a bowel tumour in an emergency operation.

The former Big Brother contestant spent a week in intensive care after being rushed back to hospital last Friday for the surgery.

The operation was described as a success and Goody has now been moved to a normal ward where medical staff are pleased with her progress, The Mirror reports.

A spokesperson confirmed that she is "in good spirits".

The reality star's boyfriend Jack Tweed is expected to join her in hospital tomorrow for Valentine's day, but is restricted to daytime visits following his recent release from prison.

"I can't spend the evening with her because of my tag. But I'll be doing something special for her," he said.

Goody was diagnosed with cervical cancer while taking part in the Indian Big Brother in August. Last month, she confirmed that the disease has spread to her liver, bowel and groin.
