The former basketball player entered a facility in Florida following his arrest on suspicion of domestic battery last Wednesday.
Rodman, 46, was taken into custody after allegedly hitting a woman, thought to be his girlfriend, at a Los Angeles hotel. He was released on bail and will appear in court on May 22.
His spokesman told People: "Yes, Dennis checked into an outpatient rehab centre in Fort Lauderdale today. His life has not been going smoothly for the last few months since his divorce. He has not been able to see his kids. And he has been drinking too much."
Rodman has two children with ex Michelle Moyer.
He was the fifth housemate to be evicted from the Channel 4 reality show in 2006. The series was won by non-celebrity Chantelle Houghton.
