Barrymore plays Spike Milligan at Fringe

Michael Barrymore will play the late comedian Spike Milligan in a play at this year's Edinburgh Fringe.

Surviving Spike will also star Strictly Come Dancing winner Jill Halfpenny as Milligan's agent Norma Farne.

The production is Barrymore's most high profile project since he appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2006.

Other celebrities performing at this year's Fringe include Simon Callow, Brit Ekland and Star Trek actor Leonard Nimoy, who has written a play about Vincent van Gogh.
