Charles said that his childhood ambition was to become a comedian, but joked that he remembers very little of his act.
"That's not surprising since I don't really remember what I did yesterday. My memory's bad," he quipped to Parade.
Charles insisted that he has no plans to return to stand-up comedy in the future because of his admiration for actual comedians.
The actor explained: "I have too much respect for comedians [to try again]. It's scary to get up there without someone else's text, without a character that you're playing, and have to be funny."
Charles recently hinted that the third season of The Good Wife will be "twisted".
The Good Wife airs at 9/8c on Sundays on CBS.
