Zooey Deschanel receives birthday letter from Barack Obama

Zooey Deschanel has revealed that she received a birthday letter from Barack Obama.
The New Girl actress celebrated her 32nd birthday on Tuesday (January 17) when she received an unexpected card from the US President.
She tweeted a photo of the letter, which read: "Michelle and I send our warmest wishes for a happy birthday. As you celebrate this special occasion with your family and friends, please know I am grateful for all you have done to encourage and support young women who are making a difference across our country.
"I hope your day is filled with love and laughter, and I wish you all the best for good health and happiness in the year ahead."

Deschanel shares the same birthday as Michelle Obama, and later joked that it was a shame that the President chose his wife's party instead of hers.
She wrote: "It's okay. I get it. I would go to Michelle Obama's birthday instead of mine, too."
Zooey Deschanel recently said that her hair helps define her own personal style.
New Girl airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on Fox in the US and on Fridays at 8.30pm on Channel 4 in the UK.
