'Homeland' Morena Baccarin 'worried about pregnancy affecting the show'

Morena Baccarin has admitted that she was nervous about how her pregnancy could affect Homeland.

The actress, who announced in May that she is expecting her first child with husband Austin Chick, told Us Weekly that she is glad her co-star Claire Danes was pregnant during the filming of the second season.

"The way has been paved for me in a really great way," Baccarin said. "I was a little freaked out about telling the show - just because, as a woman, [I had] a sense of responsibility to my job and I suddenly felt like, 'Am I going to be disappointing everybody that I'm knocked up?'

"But life goes on... Everybody was so kind to me. Claire's laid down the groundwork, and they're really good at hiding pregnancies now."

Baccarin - who admitted that having Danes on set is "a gift" - also joked that she worried her emotional role on Homeland could affect her baby.

"I'm just so unhappy on the show all the time!" she said. "I asked my doctor, 'I have to cry all the time - is that a problem?' And he said, 'As long as you're not crying for a reason, for yourself because you're unhappy, it's alright'."

Homeland will return to Showtime on September 29 in the US. The show airs on Channel 4 in the UK.
