Walford's Dr Legg gets West End role

Rex Features

Former EastEnders star Leonard Fenton has signed up to appear in West End play Plan D.

The 83-year-old actor, best known for his role as Walford legend Dr Harold Legg, is to star in the production at Tristan Bates Theatre in Covent Garden for three weeks from January 25.

Plan D is a brand new play written by Palestinian-Irish writer Hannah Khalil. It tells the story of the Israeli 1948 military campaign which expelled vast numbers of native Palestinians from what was to become the State of Israel.

The drama, based on first-hand accounts from Palestinians who lived through the war, is directed by Chris White and produced by the ReSister Theatre Company.

Fenton has previously trod the boards for productions of The Seagull and The Bed Before Yesterday.
