Janus wants partner to propose again

Samantha Janus has said that she wants her partner Mark Womack to propose to her again because their engagement "doesn't count any more".

The EastEnders actress insisted that their engagement has lapsed because it has been seven years and it was not done "properly".

Janus, who plays Ronnie Mitchell in the soap, said: "Mark has proposed. He has gone as far as buying me a ring but then it just fizzled out.

"We were at a flea market in Paris and he said, 'Do you want one of these rings?' I said, 'Is that a proposal?' and he said, 'Yes'. I said, 'All right then', and I put it on my finger."

But she has revealed that she would like Sorted actor Womack, with whom she has two children, to ask her again. The star said: "I say it doesn't count any more. You can't get engaged seven years ago and say it still counts, that's just rubbish. You have to start again from scratch.

"What I'd really like is to do it properly - the full thing with the romantic location and with Mark down on one knee. To propose then set a date and do it quickly."

The pair met on the set of Liverpool 1 while they were both married to other people and started an affair.

Since their engagement, Janus claimed that they have been too busy to arrange an actual wedding but hopes to be able to arrange it in the future.

The actress also revealed that she has been enjoying working on EastEnders, although it has been strange having Scott Maslen (Jack Branning) as her love interest - because he is Womack's best friend.

Janus, who kissed Maslen on screen over Christmas, said: "It was weird. In one of the flirting scenes I walk away and Scott lowers his eyes. Mark texted him, 'Oi, are you looking at my bird's bum?' And Scott texted back: 'Absolutely, mate!'"
