Digital Spy competes for Team Millie Mackintosh at Nature Valley Games

By
On a traditionally gloomy-looking summer day last week, Digital Spy were invited out to a lovely village green (well, a grassy patch at the HAC Armoury House in London) to help Nature Valley - official supplier and sponsor of the London 2012 Olympics - bring the country to the capital with the Nature Valley Games.

Along with a bunch of other journalists and media types, our job was to propel Made in Chelsea star Millie Mackintosh to victory over the teams assembled by fellow reality star Amy Childs and Olympic sprinters Roger Black MBE and Jamie Baulch.

Though initially a little daunted at the prospect of archery, a long jump into a pit of oats and giant tractor costumes, 'Team Millie' put up a valiant effort across the rural course and achieved the second-fastest time of the heats.

We were in the final - or at least we were until the powers that be slapped us with a one minute penalty after Millie politely declined to wear a massive farmer's outfit over the hay bale hurdles, leaving us dead last.

But we had one more chance to walk away with a medal in the third/fourth play off with 'Team Amy'. We were all desperate for a place on the podium - so important was this win that Millie even decided to wear the farmer ensemble. And after a tense battle that was neck-and-neck right until the very end...we did it! 'Team Millie' grabbed bronze!

Jamie Baulch and his crew may have scored the gold medal in the final, but as we stood up there in front of the crowd and rejoiced at finally having something to put in the trophy cabinet next to our Pointless gong, we at Digital Spy felt like the real winners.
