Warrant issued for 'Waterloo Road' star

Magistrates have issued a warrant for the arrest of Waterloo Road star Craig Fitzpatrick after he failed to turn up to court earlier this week to be sentenced over assaulting his pregnant girlfriend.

Fitzpatrick, who plays student Lewis Seddon in the BBC drama, assaulted his partner in July and was due to attend Tameside Magistrates Court.

Last month the actor, who has previously appeared in Shameless and Holby City, pleaded guilty to punching his girlfriend in the face after the pair had a row.

His lawyer Mark Harper claimed that he failed to turn up at court because he was at his aunt's funeral.

A warrant for his arrest was issued last Monday, the day his aunt reportedly died, after he failed to appear at an appointment with probation services.

Fitzpatrick will be taken into custody before a new date for sentencing is arranged.
