Ex-Corrie star Condou becomes a father

Former Coronation Street star Charlie Condou has become a father for the first time, The Sun reports.

The gay actor, best known for playing Sean Tully's love interest Marcus Dent on the show, recently welcomed the arrival of a baby girl who is now living with him at home.

Writing on Twitter, he confirmed: "I have the most beautiful daughter in the world!"

Condou and his partner had asked a female friend to act as a surrogate mother. It is believed that the woman gave birth to the child, who has not yet been named, two weeks early.

The 36-year-old's fatherhood plans were first revealed in the media earlier this month after Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden announced the news.
