The couple welcomed the arrival of their first child Scarlett in October last year after finding love on the set of the ITV1 soap.
In an interview with the Manchester Evening News, O'Brien revealed: "I keep trying to break Ryan in gently that one day she is going to grow up, and he will not have it.
"He's so convinced that she's going to be his little girl forever. I'm like, 'Ryan, darling, one day she's going to grow up. Just wait'. I think I'll actually come to terms with it better than Ryan will."
The 26-year-old, who played Weatherfield's Sarah Platt, has become a stay-at-home mum since Scarlett's birth. Meanwhile, Thomas has stuck with his role as builder Jason Grimshaw on the drama.
Asked if she will be a strict mother, O'Brien replied: "I think Ryan could probably do that for both of us, to be honest. He's going to be the strict one.
"I say, 'You know, she'll have to go out with her friends'. And he says, 'Well, I'll drive her, drop her off and pick her up'. I think I'm going to have to spend the next 18 years trying to mellow him out."
O'Brien recently said that she will not return to Coronation Street any time soon.
