Corrie actor Thomson reveals baby news

Coronation Street star John Thomson has announced that he is to be a father for the second time.

The 40-year-old actor and his wife Sam Sharp conceived naturally following three unsuccessful attempts at IVF treatment, PA reports.

Thomson and his partner already have a 6-year-old daughter named Olivia together. The couple tied the knot in 2005.

A spokeswoman confirmed: "The Thomson family are overjoyed - Sam is three months pregnant after three failed IVF treatments."

Thomson joined Coronation Street for a brief stint as children's entertainer Jesse Chadwick last year. In January, it was announced that he would return to Weatherfield on a permanent basis.
