On April 18, thousands of people in 48 cities across the world are expected to run 6km in order to raise funds for the charity Pump Aid, which helps to provide clean water in underprivileged countries.
Marsh, best known for her role as Weatherfield barmaid Michelle Connor, has now encouraged Brits to consider participating in the UK events, which will take place at Heaton Park in Manchester and London's Victoria Park.
The actress commented: "Currently a staggering one billion people don't have access to clean water, something that we in the UK take for granted. So please help Pump Aid, a fantastic charity that gives water pumps to communities in Africa that have no access to clean water, by taking part in the 6km Run For Water events on April 18.
"Just £500 raised by every runner can give clean water to a staggering 3.5 million people! So come on London and Manchester, help support Pump Aid and sign up to www.pumpaid.org - and get those running shoes on."
Organisers hope that 14,000 people will take part in a 'Run For Water' in order to reach the target of delivering clean water to 3.5 million people. Jessica Biel, Corinne Bailey Rae and Pete Wentz are also backing the events.
