The Boyzone singer, who recently returned to his role as Weatherfield womaniser Ciaran McCarthy, confirmed that making the transition to American television is one of his biggest goals.
Duffy told the Daily Mail's You magazine: "I'm very ambitious but I'm the wrong side of 35. I'm enjoying my time in Corrie but, to be honest, what I'd really love to do is American TV.
"I'm on the best show in Britain at the moment, but American TV just has that special shine to it. I love The Wire. I'd love to be in something like that."
The star also said that Coronation Street has given him a "focus" and the opportunity to enjoy "different surroundings" following the death of his bandmate Stephen Gately.
Duffy's fellow Boyzone singer Ronan Keating recently expressed a similar desire for US success, explaining that he plans to move to Los Angeles in pursuit of acting work.
