Sinitta: 'I knew Bruce Jones had issues'

Sinitta has admitted that she is not surprised by the news that former Coronation Street star Bruce Jones is an alcoholic.

The '80s singer once lived with Jones temporarily for an episode of Celebrity Wife Swap, which saw her trying to improve his diet and lifestyle.

Last week, Jones confessed that a drunken rage had caused him to grab the wheel of his wife Sandra's car while she was driving and threaten to kill them both.

Writing on Twitter yesterday, Sinitta commented: "I heard Bruce tried to kill himself and his wife! Poor man, he needs help.

"I told Wife Swap he had issues. I did my best with him but they edited out the times I was in tears asking to go home!

"I knew I was living with an alcoholic, but underneath it he had hopes and dreams and just couldn't get himself together. I felt bad for him and it was hard to cope."

In an interview published today, Jones - who played Weatherfield's Les Battersby for ten years - vowed to spend six months in rehab in an attempt to turn his life around.
