The Coronation Street actress told New that it had been tough following the death of her prematurely-born son Archie in 2009.
"Yeah, there have been times I've been very down," she said. "You can go full term and still not end up with your baby. The only time it's certain is when your baby is in your arms. My experience with Archie taught me that."
However, Marsh - Michelle Connor in the ITV soap - admitted that the experiences had brought her and partner Jamie Lomas closer together.
"Yeah, definitely. I think if you can get through something like the death of a child, you can get through anything together," she told the magazine.
Discussing which of her co-stars had been in contact, she revealed: "Ali King, Bev Callard and Charlie Condou have been and I'm in constant contact with Antony Cotton. Julie Hesmondhalgh has been on the phone every week celebrating my milestones with me. It's times like this when you realise who cares about you."
