'Coronation Street' Samia Smith granted divorce, uses maiden name

Coronation Street star Samia Smith's divorce from her husband of five years has been finalised.

The 29-year-old, who plays Maria Connor in the ITV soap, filed for divorce from Matt Smith back in July citing "unreasonable behaviour".

The couple, who have a 2-year-old daughter named Freya, first announced their separation in January.

Samia also revealed on Twitter that she has chosen to revert to her maiden name Ghadie, writing: "So, I've got a new surname everyone.. It's my old one."

She is currently dating her Coronation Street co-star Will Thorp (Chris Gray).

Samia recently described the decision to renew her Corrie contract for another year as a "no-brainer".
