Speaking to New magazine, the Coronation Street actress criticised readers of the Daily Mail website for comments they have made about her.

The former Hear'Say star, who is promoting her Channel 5 documentary about teenage mothers, was asked if she still feels judged for having been a teen mum herself.

"No I don't but I still get judged by people because of what happened on Popstars," she said. "I have to explain it again and again. And I still get judged for having a life."

Marsh continued: "I'm not allowed to go out and have fun! The Daily Mail readers love it. It's such a horrible website. People just go on there and slag everyone off."

Asked about events on Popstars, on which she was accused of lying about having children, Marsh hit back that "no-one ever asked" if she was a mother.

"I didn't offer that information up in the beginning, because I didn't think it made a difference and then I was in the final 10 and I was like, 'Look, this is the situation'," she said. "They said it's fine.

"And then a few weeks later I got hauled up into the office and had this whole thing on camera with Nigel Lythgoe as if I had hidden this dirty little secret. So I became the person who lied about my child."

The full interview with Kym Marsh appears in the new issue of New magazine, out now.
